Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this landmark building is being transformed into a vibrant, mixed-use urban center including multifamily, commercial, restaurant and retail space. The Sibley Building, which is topped by a clock tower and has tawny Roman-style-brick walls, takes up a full block in the downtown area and sweeps across more than one million square feet. The design plan, which will play out incrementally over a decade, will gain several hundred thousand square feet of office space and nearly 200 apartments. In addition, the building will feature an array of destinations: art galleries, boutique shops, medical services, cafes and a fitness center. With more than 23-acres of floor space this iconic building is at the heart of the economic rebirth in downtown Rochester, and will soon be home to the University of Rochester’s high-tech incubator. With short walks to transit, access to parks, proximity to entertainment and flexible and functional interior configurations, The Sibley Building is well poised to reposition an entire city core. From the original escalator on the first floor to the clock tower on the roof, many of the iconic art deco details have been preserved. Mahogany panels, modern art and original photography define the clean, bright and welcoming lobby space.
