The
award winning design of Laurelmead at Blackstone Boulevard features
an extensive program of common spaces which enhance the 164
private apartments ranging in size from studios to 2,000 square
foot penthouse suites.
An
"S-shaped" plan configuration was utilized to mask
the
700 foot long, four- and five-story tall development. This configuration
weaves the building footprint through the existing tree line,
creating entry and recreational courtyards which permit the
facade to alternately recede into the woods and present itself
across meadow views.
Gabled
roof dormers, bay windows, and traditional brick detailing echo
the architectural vocabulary of neighboring historic buildings
while the configuration conveys a more contemporary sense of
space. Interiors are intentionally arranged to create vistas
from one room into the next, encouraging ambulation and a sense
of promenade.
Luxurious
common spaces, including dining rooms, lounges, libraries, a
theatre, pub, heated indoor swimming pool, wellness center,
and crafts, card and billiard rooms, create an interior which
invariably caters to residents' health, social, and recreational
needs.
