Completed in February 2002, the Gerald and Darlene Jordan Boys & Girls Club is a new construction and adaptive reuse design of a two-story, 45,000 square foot youth education and recreation center. The contemporary-designed facility serves as the flagship club in the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston's program.

Designed to be functional yet playful, several key design elements were used for both personality and purpose in the facility. A "Main Street" corridor links the separate youth and teen areas, with common areas such as the pool, gymnasium and computer room, located along the path. Vibrant color schemes reflect the personality of each program area, and striking curved walls with recessed shapes accentuate a dynamic and youthful atmosphere. The extensive use of windows throughout the clubhouse adds character and continuity, while also providing a supervisory measure.

The Gerald and Darlene Jordan Boys & Girls Club features a computer/technology center with audio/visual and robotics programs; a competition-length swimming pool; a high-school sized gymnasium with basketball and volleyball courts, a rock climbing wall, fitness room and a golf-putting and batting and pitching area; a performing arts center with an elevated stage; a commercial kitchen, and extensive arts program space.
