The project was developed in two phases. The first phase undertook the new construction of a 102 bed Alzheimer's facility. This facility was divided into four donut-shaped pods consisting of 25-26 units. The pods were organized around courtyards on two floors, each containing 12-13 unit clusters. Each cluster had a direct relationship to a nursing station. A 250 seat chapel was included as part of the first phase.

Completion of the first phase permitted relocation of the original nursing facility residents so that phase two, the renovation, could begin. The renovation decompressed the existing facility, creating new dining and activity areas and a new child day care center. The play area for the day care center was situated by the chapel and a resident courtyard to permit controlled intergenerational interaction.
